Bird's Eye Farm Ina May 5*M VGVG 83

Ina May profile
Born 5/8/2019
ADGA Pedigree

Ina has the same powerful, capacious build as her dam Dime Piece (aka Chimi), one of our foundation does. She has wonderful depth of body and her nice wide rump came in handy when her firstborn kid was a breech triplet. She pushed out that kid—our own dear Elena!—with hardly any help.

Ina first freshened in January 2023 with great udder texture and easy-milking open orifices. She easily earned her 5*M designation in 2023, following in some very milky matrilineal hoofsteps. We were thrilled to retain her daughters Elena and Lizzo. She was appraised that June, but six months into her first freshening she didn't have much udder to show the appraiser! I'll be keen to see how her mammary appraises when our area is slated for Linear Appraisal again in 2026.

Ina freshened a second time in 2024, and her daughter Elena gave birth the very next day, in the same stall. In a heartwarming show of grandmotherly instinct, Ina helped clean off and nurse her newborn grandkids. (She also ate Elena's placenta, which—ok?)

Ina then peaked at 4.4 lbs of daily milk and stayed in great condition through a 16 month extended lactation. Her 305 day total was 943 lbs of milk. She finished the lactation with a whopping 1200 lbs of milk and 70 lbs of butterfat.

Ina bears a striking resemblance to her paternal granddam, GCH Algedi Farm RB Ocean Flower 6*M *D EEEE 92. Ocean is a show ring and milk stand legend, and Ina inherited some of her granddam's grace. Combine that with strength and capacity from her dam Chimi's genetics and you can see why Ina is such a lovely doe—and stellar producer!
